16 years for 2017's Mother of the Year

DENVER (AP) — A Colorado mother who fatally abused her 7-year-old daughter and lied about her health to get handouts from charities worth at least $100,000 was sentenced to 16 years in prison as part of a plea deal that threw out murder charges.

Judge Patricia Herron issued the sentence Wednesday after Kelly Turner pled guilty last month to child abuse resulting in the 2017 death of the girl, Olivia Gant, and to charitable fraud and theft.

  3. I sense a lazy prosecuting attorney. Hell no to a plea deal should have been the strategy.

  4. The so-called "medical doctors." My lord, how incompetent are these people that spend 10+ years in "higher education."
I've been teaching self-described "premed students" for 15 years now. Maybe I've been a failure too?
How in the everyloving fuck is some "mother" able to "fool" these "doctors" into literally poisoning their child to death!?
And how in the everloving fuck does a prosecutor agree to drop the FUCKING MURDER charge for an easy plea?
I was laughing after the later story about the drunk bear...
