unexploded ordinance is not something to mess with, even if one knows how to handle it. I'm suspecting this individual is likely one or two standard deviations below the curve. Risk versus reward? If I were a cop, and I saw that, I would likely record the plate number and evacuate his neighborhood before sending in the "expendables".
Years ago I was home on leave and the now ex wife and I stopped at a local antique barn. Guy had three 105's, OD Green with that nice broad yellow stripe on them, lettering still legible, rifling had been fully engaged (it had been fired) and the nose fuze mashed up. I tried telling this guy that they were probably unstable, the fuze had at least partially armed and anything could set them off. "Naw" he says. "Those were already fired, they won't go off now. Brought those back with me from Kansas, went hunting out there". Got the wife and NOPED the hell out of there.
Smoking hole waiting to happen.
ReplyDeleteEurope or Asia?
That a 155? Been years since I blew one of them up. Quarter stick a c-4 on the nose and boom.
ReplyDeleteI thought so, too. Bursting radius of 50 meters, weighs about 100 pounds. Not a good paper weight.
DeleteMust have landed in a paddy and didn't go off. Hope he don't wreck.
