"Screw it, I'm outta here"

Tommy Howe is a recent college graduate who just started a new job. The 24-year-old lives in an apartment with friends in downtown Chicago, but a bizarre chain of events Jan. 22 has investigators wondering where he is now.

It started with a crash on a highway in the northern suburbs of Chicago.

  1. Not good. Maybe drunk or on drugs or just disoriented from the crash, but wandering out into the woods in February near Chicago is not a survivable situation for a city boy. Not good.

  2. Agreed with prior anonymous author. If there's "water" in the forest preserve, the body is likely there. For anyone traversing snow covered land, be careful of "flat land" particularly streams ... getting wet can be a race against time to prevent hypothermia. It doesn't sound good. They'll find him after the thaw. Losing the cellphone is not a good sign.

  3. Odd things happen. We have a friend, a doctors wife, who experienced temporary amnesia yesterday. Completely forgot six years of her life. She was at the gym and the next thing she knows she's in ER. 3:100,000 people. Odds I've beaten more than once.

  4. My bet is on "transient global amnesia". My wife had a case several years ago when she experienced some "family trauma" regarding her son not allowing her to visit her grandson for no reason. Hit her so badly she didn't know who I was and we've been together 20 years! Took her to the hospital but they didn't have a solution and she regained her memory by the end of the day. But I thought she was having a stroke!
