Worked with a guy who's ex claimed she needed a big alimony payment since she was unemployed. She was - in the state where the divorce took place. However, she drove across the border each day and worked in a neighboring state. When she wanted to get more of the stuff from the house than was in the original agreement, she hired some guys to go over there and beat him unconscious, then they took everything. So he tipped the cops in the other state about the less-than-legal business she was working. The following publicity got the judge in the alimony case to cut the amount, not increase it. Luckily, there were no children.
Not much more corrupt than the child support 'system'. First hand experience. Primary objective is to screw fathers for as much money as possible. As for fathers parental rights, those are somewhere around #299. Thanks Ken
You got that right Greg. When I was processed through that meat grinder it was all women working there. Although near the end of my sentence I did start to see a guy or two.
First the "reasonable" "support" amount has to be established. THEN, the DNA tests. Divide the number of children that are his, by the number of children that are hers, and multiply by the "reasonable" amount.
My struggle with my ex and her lawyer finally ended because of this one simple phrase: "till death do us part". That was worth one big bottle of champagne to celebrate.
You can actually get in a lot of trouble for not allowing visits. One trip to court will result in a warning. Subsequent trips result in contempt. It's pretty serious.
Also, if a DNA or blood test disproves paternity.
ReplyDeleteAnd fathers shouldn't have to support a kid that turned out to belong to another man.

How about a bill that men don't have to pay child support for children that they didn't sire?
