This isn’t by any means a NeverTrumper piece. Don’t take it that way. But it’s worth examining something in light of a POLITICO/Morning Consult poll which popped this morning which says that a generic Republican outperforms Donald Trump in a 2024 hypothetical matchup with Joe Biden.
-JD
Bullshit.
ReplyDeletePeople forget Trump is the ONLY
politician in recent history that did or tried to do everything he said he would while campaigning.
Every other one gop or not was full of shit.
Amen to that
DeleteIt helps to remember that Trump is NOT a politician. He's a successful businessman and a patriot. He came to politics because he is a patriot. His success in business lets him afford the cost of staying there.
DeleteReally? When did he try to put Hillary in jail? When did he try to get Mexico to pay for the wall? He was better than the alternative, but not by much. He was too dumb to realize that Pence was not his ally, he was too dumb to realize that appointing Jared and Ivanka was a huge mistake. He is still pushing the vaccine as a good thing, maybe not as mandatory, but he's still pushing it. Nah, Trump was never all he claimed to be.
DeleteAmen to the Amen.
DeleteRight, all you need is a generic Republican. Let me know if you find one.
ReplyDeleteIf Trump doesn't run, will it automatically go to a "establishment" Republican? I would hate to think that we would get stuck with another Democratic-lite character such as Bush the Lesser, Bush the Elder, John McCain, or Mitt Romney.
ReplyDeleteWhile there are several Republicans that I think would make great presidents (Ron DeSantis and Rand Paul come to mind), if the choice is between an establishment Republican and Trump, I'll take Trump.
And we'd vote him in for the THIRD TIME!!!!!
DeleteThere is alot of baggage with Trump.
ReplyDeleteMedia Made…95% anyway.
How many are ..”smart enough” to figure it?
Heck, look at the Idiots in the last “election”..that didn’t vote for him but did the first time. Some rocket scientists there.
As for a Generic Repube…there all the same. 90% RINO Trash.
(I) don’t see the point.
But… my gold says yeah. Thats how this ends.
That is if the DemoKrauts just don’t go full Nazi amd just suspend the elections OR try there game again.
Better “covered”(hidden) of course.
imo
If Trump would realize his time in the sun was over and put his full weight behind someone like DeSantis, it could do wonders. Instead, his ego is going tear the Republican party apart.
ReplyDeleteBullshit.
DeleteAnd what is it you see about the Repubs that's cohesive, "ABE"?
DeleteWorthless, do-nothing shills.
Trump showed them up & made them look like what they are.
They didn't like that.
Ego - it's that simple.
The main issue I see with Trump running again is all the hate and false accusations will just start up again. Even if he gets into the office, not sure he could do much better than last time, but we could hope that he learned something.
ReplyDeleteMaybe he can win by promising to build a wall and deport them all, lock her up, pass the Hearing Protection Act (after withdrawing the bump-stock ban and monitoring the billion digital firearm records of the ATF), and build real infrastructure.
DeleteBut like before, we'd end up with record low black unemployment and Platinum Plan II, gay buttsex in whatever shithole country is next to Botswana, and a Laser Dome over Trump Heights, with a possibility of pardons for those gulaged after his last big rally.
My only issue with Trump is his age. I say that as an old fart (77).
ReplyDeleteBack in the day we were buying a minivan (don't judge me!) and while mama bear was paperworking I was looking at the then new 1994 Dodge Ram truck. Remember that design change? A sales weasel walked over, asked me what I thought and said, "be completely honest."
ReplyDeleteHe said they were told Dodge wanted a new truck, they could go along with what they were already doing with same number of sales. Or they could do something different.
He said this design when focus group tested was the most polarizing. Either folks liked it or hated it. That's what the design team threw to the engineers and builders.
DJT is just as, or more so polarizing than that truck. As someone who doesn't get that worked up over politics I'm in awe of the hysterics and adulation.
As I recall, Dodge sold a lot more trucks with that design so that worked out for them.
How it works for American politics...well, stock up on popcorn and butter. It's going to be a great show.
I was one of those sales weasels. That truck had many problems. The roofs cracked. Cheap screws that worked out and left headlights hanging. On and on, like every MOPAR product of that era. Brilliant designs, great engineering, then the bean counters found cost cutting ways to screw up the product. While Dodge may have sold more trucks, the resale value after two years dropped like a rock.
DeleteTrump and his administration were very, very good for America and undid some of the harm obummer did during his 8 years in office.
ReplyDeleteBut, and a big but, Trump just will not play nice with others even if they are on the same side if Trump feels (right or wrong like his treatment of Pence who really had zero options) that they did him wrong and the big problem is he polarizes not only folks on the left, but a lot of folks on the right.
In short, I would vote for him in a heartbeat if he was the GOP candidate but I want the White House back in the GOP's hands and think we have better odds with someone like DeSantis if he can survive the attacks from the media and Trump if he chooses to run.
Check out the most recent article Wirecutter linked to. Pence was a piece of work.
DeleteThanks, it is a lot to absorb and understand and I do intend to put more time into it because I believe Pence had no true options but I do find it interesting about the demonKKKrats now trying to change the VP's role for future elections but need to verify some of this.
DeleteAnon, this will probably not be received by you or anyone else for that matter because of the time gone by but I did the research and unfortunately you guys are wrong about Pence.
DeleteIn short, the power is with the states to appoint their electors (thanks goodness) and that is what the demonKKKrats were recently trying to change and by the time this step gets to the nation's capitol, the VP's role is only ceremonial.
The Electoral Count Act of 1887 is apparently quite a mess – poorly written and with ambiguities. Its problems are supposed to extend to other matters beyond those January 6th brought to light.
But even when a law isn’t perfectly clear, we can look at the broad intent and purpose of the document. And here we can be very, very confident that writers of the 1887 law weren’t saying that the vice president is allowed to unilaterally proclaim himself the winner in a contest! That just isn’t how representative democracy works. Rather, that’s how banana republics and communist dictatorships work.
Always keep in mind here that the core of the American presidential election process lies at the state level. It is the responsibility of each state - with their own laws, officials, and processes - to consider all such matters and then forward their own electoral votes to the congress for final counting. Contrary to the Democrats recent efforts to nationalize these things, there is great strength and wisdom in this distributed, by-state approach. That last act with congress is ultimately ceremonial. Yes, there is a process with a checklist to verify everything is in order (e.g. Is this really from Iowa? Do we have all the states counted? Is the math accurate?). But as to the specific outcome, Pence had no choice whatsoever. He was a high-profile, trusted, ceremonial clerk.
All of us on the right that abhor the current biden administration need to keep a clear head and not fall for such traps as these if we hope to regain the White House.
The poll is by Politico, a known commie left wing polling organization. Full of the stuff that makes the grass grow green, as usual.
ReplyDeleteNemo
Exactly.
DeleteOnly it's not just merely bullshit. It's deliberate dezinformatsiya.
And the Russian word applies because it's commie propaganda, and because of the people involved. The intellectuals and architects of the radical left overwhelmingly are the descendants of the people who fled Russia to get away from all that hatred and oppression that happened for no reason at all. The Neocons of the establishment right are of exactly the same stock.
What this Politico piece tells me is that they are scared of Trump.
As if Politico would give ANY Republican an even break. If the voting system gets fixed, Trump is the next president if he wants it. If the fraud is not repaired, voting is irrelevant.
ReplyDeleteTrump isn't our saviour. He had his chance, he blew it.
ReplyDeleteTrump is a Jewish comcubine
ReplyDeleteRemember all the phony polls leading up to 2020? Remember their gaslighting purpose? If you ever trust a poll again without knowing about the pollster, well there's your problem. The People's Pundit (Baris) is pretty reliable and his predictions have repeatedly been borne out by the results following.
ReplyDeleteThe RINOs are the in many ways the same as the Democrats - they are your enemy, if you're not in the Privileged Class. Respect them as such. Use your intellect to decide after evaluating what they actually DO instead of believing what they SAY.
A poll of 2005 registered voters is not large enough to have any meaning when applied to the entire country. Biden vs Republican, the unknown R wins by 7 points, but when the question is Biden vs Trump or DeSantis or Cruz Biden wins by 1 or 2 points so there is a bias in the way polling is conducted. People answering who they would vote for if the primaries for R's were being held today less the 500 people answered and the top vote getters were Trump and DeSantis.
ReplyDelete"Would The GOP Be Better Off Without Trump?"
ReplyDeleteNext question to ask- "Is the U.S. better off with Biden?"
January jobs numbers are in. Down 301,000 jobs.
FJB, and the rest of the Democrats too.
I killed a gopher with a stick.
ReplyDeleteHardwood or softwood?
Deletedon't get me wrong, i love Trump and everything he did for us and our country, but he cannot keep his big mouth shut. he tweeted his self right out of office. change my mind.
ReplyDeleteGo read the article below about Pence and his crew. Trump said everything we have wanted to say for yeas and did say. Just know one heard us but ourselves.
DeleteBullshit, I don't believe it.
ReplyDeleteThe ONLY gop'er who could possibly over take Trump, is Desantis.
If that is going to happen he better start re-routing the illegals being shipped into Florida up and into Delaware.
Like he threatened to do. He'll pick up 10 points overnight. Otherwise the #2 spot should be his.
De Oppresso Liber
Trump had a plan but there are too many Rino's and never-Trumpers in the Republican party. If Trump had full Republican support when he was in office he would have accomplished a lot more. The swamp has refilled itself. Scratch that, a swamp is a beautiful thing. What is going on in DC is a sewer and it is overflowing.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see a younger person with Trump's political values and love for America take the helm. DeSantis is partially there as he would be a good running mate but he doesn't have the depth of the game outlook.
You ask me President Trump would better without the GOP and RINO Republicans.
ReplyDeleteSo, Trump had 4 years in office. And did thing's Trump's way. How'd that work out for Americans? How'd that work out for Trump?
ReplyDeleteNow, what's Trump learned? What have so, so many Americans learned?
When he runs again, or one of his favored offspring inherits the right to his throne, I'll support them. Because so, so many Americans won't learn. They refuse to learn. As long as they live. And many Americans refuse to think that about fellow Americans. But, while those refuse to think, they might still learn.
Let's see.
DeleteNo Wars
Mid-East Peace deal
Strong Economy
Energy Self Sufficiency
Worked out pretty well asshole.
You take a Politico poll seriously?
ReplyDeleteYour kid's pet gerbil would poll well against Brandon.
It doesnt matter which Republican runs, he will also be Hitler just like George W, and others
ReplyDeleteThe fickle public, in a nutshell, right here.
ReplyDeleteYou're all just talking about rearranging the furniture in a house in the ghetto. Ohio Guy
ReplyDeleteRon DeSantis is the ONLY alternative to Trump, after DeSantis the choices are basically having a fake conservative like a George Bush/Mitt Romney republican which means you might as well keep Biden as president. If Trump or DeSantis don't get the nomination we are f#cked. Anybody taking bets that Biden won't start a war to keep power? Obama purged the military of conservative leadership and we ended up with 13 dead kids getting out of Afghanistan because of military and democrat stupidity. I have ZERO faith America will survive this current crop of communist democrats. PS: Kenny, thanks for all your work.
