Something a little different this week - an article instead of a video.

"Fond" memory of Recondo training: it rained every day and night ... except the three hours we wrapped all our gear in our ponchos and practiced river crossing
ReplyDeleteIf it ain't rainin' it ain't trainin'.
DeleteI remember climbing Sheep Shit and Mount Mother Fucker both in the pouring rain. Camp Pendleton. Three steps forward, slide back two. I was so fortunate and spent two monsoons in the bush as a grunt. One on the Cau dou Bridge. The other on the side of Charley Ridge.
ReplyDeleteSorry I missed that training. NOT! Ohio Guy
ReplyDeleteI spent a few days there in January 1967. Flunked the road march PT test. Later worked at 11th Cav flight operations, including LRRP insertions and extractions. Even from operations side, emergency extraction have a high stress level. Can't imagine stress on LRRPs running for emergency PZ.
