"And here we have the finest cardboard box for Grandma to spend eternity in"
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – First it was the pandemic and now it’s the supply chain that’s led to a supply shortage for funeral homes.
As they’re helping families prepare for the deaths of loved ones, they’re also asking for grace as they’re navigating the lack happening all across the industry.
Well, hell, if you are going to cremate grandma, why buy an expensive casket? A cardboard box would be more than sufficient. And, if you don't/can't build your own for a couple of hundred bucks, again, why spend thousands on a casket? In Oklahoma, you can build your own casket, but the Funeral Home lobby has badgered the Legislature into prohibiting you building one for anyone else. And, they care about your loved one - sure, they do!

ReplyDeleteThat is not a casket. It is a coffin. Even the manufacturers can't get it right...
DeleteI'm sure grandpa doesn't care if it's a cardboard box, wood box or a gunny sack. Funerals and burial details are for the living, not the dead.
ReplyDeleteCardboard box or Folgers coffee can is good enough for me.

Good thing it's a supply problem and not a demand problem, as 2/3rds of the US are safely, effectively immunized from death.
