Apparently all our glee was a little premature

After less than a week behind bars on a 150-day sentence for faking a hate crime, Jussie Smollett will be walking out of the Cook County Jail on Wednesday.

A one-page order unceremoniously released by the Illinois Appellate Court today in a 2-1 decision granted the motion from the former Empire actor’s lawyers for a stay of the sentence. Denied an appeal by the sentencing judge last week, the defense team sought to set Smollett free while his appeal on five felony convictions is pending.

  2. At least we can be happy that the fines and reparations imposed by the court are still there AND remember the lawyers representing him cost about $1000.00 per hour of their time, so his hopefully temporary freedom will be at great expense.
With any luck, Jussie will be back in prison with Bubba as his cellmate.

  7. There's your genuine racism.
Black criminal set free where a white man (like Jan. 6 white men) rots in jail as democrat party POW's.
Fuck this government, may they all burn brightly in hell.

  9. A 150 day sentence for HOW MANY felonies? I should move to Chicago.

  10. Wouldn't really call it 'glee', but satisfaction that a Privileged One was paying for his crimes. Now we're reverting back to the usual programming.

  11. For all of the J6 prisoners, most of whom, if they have been charged, only face misdemeanors, have already served more time than their likely sentence. This is racial and political and the JDOJ has nothing to do with Justice.
