Understanding Things: That Stalled Russian Convoy in Ukraine

The amount of disinformation coming out of the Ukraine war is unsurpassed in modern history. Unlike the glory days when outlets like CNN sent knowledgeable reporters into combat zones looking for actual information, today most MSM coverage is based on borrowed social media video, or just. made. up.

The problem with the former, video from social media, is it lacks context. Here’s eight seconds of a tank blowing up. Where was it shot? When? Was the explosion caused by a mine, a missile, or something internal to the tank? Is the tank Russian or Ukrainian? In most cases the media outlet has no real idea of the answers to those questions, never mind who shot the video towards what end. Even if they tumble on to the basic who-what-where, the exploding tank video is devoid of context. Was that the lead tank hit, stopping the Russian advance toward a village? Or was it a Russian tank that lingered in an open field and got picked off in a lucky shot, strategically without much consequence. At that point it is just war porn, a little jolt for the viewer. Such videos were immensely popular among the terrorists in Iraq; nearly every one captured had some random video on his phone of a US vehicle being blown apart by a roadside IED. Now the same thing is on MSNBC.

  1. I've taken the stance of assuming EVERYTHING posted by the MSM or our Gov is a lie. Then I'm never shocked when it turns out The Narrative was, once again, an illusion

  2. Was that stranded convoy 40 miles long or 40 kilometers (24 miles)? It sure seemed to be there a long time too. Real simple, you kill the first vehicle, and then you kill the tail end vehicle. And then you call in mortars to blow up everything trapped in between. Or use those fabled Ukrainian attack drones. The videos show a lot of rasputitsa on both sides of the highway keeping the convoy from cutting through the fields or getting bogged if they tried.

  3. How do we even know that there's really a war going on. And is Russia really involved or maybe a civil war. The media is state controlled so what do we really know?

    1. I just saw a TV report NBC's Richard Engle, in full gear of course, reporting from Ukraine. He's standing in the median of a four lane road amidst what's left of a few destroyed vehicles and 10 seconds into his report, as if on cue, two tanks roll by in the oncoming slow lane and are soon passed by a couple of civilian rigs traveling at a high rate of speed as if they were late for work or their hair appointment.

As I watched that report I couldn't help but feel for the thousandth time that we're all being played. Kind of like watching the guy from the Weather Channel reporting on the latest Storm of the Century while standing in the piss ditch in waist high water while two guys walk on the road behind him in ankle deep water. Kind of like that.

  6. The Russians are not incompetent, nor foolish, nor led by feckless fools. Our military is "led" by sex perverts, career faggots, and fools. Our president shits his diaper, and can't remember yesterday.

We have killed 60 million of our own babies, legalized and recognized homosexual marriage, turned a blind eye to sexual abuse of children, and the sale of human beings. If you will read the bible our country ia as bad if not worse than Sodom.
I expect God fully intends to allow us to have exactly what we asked for.

    1. I have been saying for years now that the USA reached its civilizational peak in December 1972 with the launch and recovery of Apollo 17. The very next month, January 1973, was the Roe vs Wade decision and the downhill slide got started in earnest then. It has been an ever steeper slide ever since.

    2. Given how the Russians have performed, I would differ with you on the incompetent, feckless and foolish part. They have not performed well at all.

  8. Wake up. Pay attention. Russia has won the war, and Ukraine is suing for peace terms. Right now Ukraine has acceded to most of the Russian demands.

    1. Ukraine tried and felt them out. The Russians accepted nothing because it does not involve Ukraine's surrender. That's why the war continues.

  9. It seems a lot of those photos and videos of destroyed vehicles are from the 2014 brouhaha. Don't believe anything I see or hear from anyone in that arena, or out vaunted .gov.

  13. First mention of the convoy, it was seven miles long. Then suddenly, 40 km long. And now 40 miles long?

    1. A lot of people have no idea of the difference between a klick and a mile. At first it was about 7 km long then grew to 40 km. The reason for that long column was logistics. It seems the area where they are OK on logistics is across the south.
