Ahh yes, the myth of the "endangered" polar bear. I remember not too long ago certain groups were clamoring for the Canadian government to declare polar bear in critical need of protection, because climate change, but the government just couldn't do it because by every conceivable measure, polar bears are THRIVING.
Speaking of gun control... . Some places require a rifle of at least .375 for every adult. Seems the Whiteys have zero fear of humans, groups of humans, vehicles with humans, structures with humans inside. . I think this is could be an analogy, a 'teachable moment'.
Hiking out after a week spent in the high country I came across bear tracks in the snow. Being above the treelune I could see a fair distance. I looked and saw the tracks curved around (I was on a slope) to where I had been. I know critters will follow you so what i did was start a big loop, maybe three miles in diameter, that went around the back side of a rock outcropping. I was right, that she bear was following my tracks. I got myself to where I could make a beeline for my car. It was some anxious moments when I didn't find my car until standing on top of it. There had been a heavy snow when I was camping.
A group of us went on a nature walk with a ranger. The return leg retraced our route. Oh, look, a big ole bear paw print in the mud following our outbound tracks that wasn't there before. Lotsa folks suddenly had heads on swivels. Fun times!
"Save the Polar Bear !!" That one appears to be able to take care of itself just fine - walk up to and ask it tp see for yourself
ReplyDeleteAnd hunting permits for Polar Bear were never reduced.

ReplyDeleteI've seen WI. black bears peel doors open and some off of cars. They are much smaller than that print.
