That POS president is turning the US into a third world country. We are on our way to food being scarce, such as in the former Soviet Union. I’ve already seen many out of stock items in the local stores and prices through the roof, particularly for meat. If, however, I need another shop vac, that price has gone down 10%.
It's all about fear. Cut baby formula and scare the living crap out of mothers who are already scared shitless because they're convinced their kids will die of Covid. Scared mothers then hound daddies into fear. Gee maybe FDR was was onto something when he stated: "We have nothing to fear but fear itself". But that was 1941 and the Great generation wasn't the 2022 sheep generation.
I went to Wally World a week ago from Wednesday. I picked up some coffee which was 11.92. I didn't check the meat section as I was going to get it at Aldi's. Aldi's had very little chicken, mostly legs, a few breasts, and a few whole chickens. I wanted the thighs which there were none so I went back to Wally World last Friday. They only had 3 family packets of thighs which I bought. I decided to pick up some more coffee as there's supposed to be a shortage. The price was now 12.92. It went up two bucks in two days. The chicken thigh price $9.00 (or more) for 10 thighs. For those of you that are math challenged, that's 90 cents a thigh.
I started keeping as stocked up as I could a little before Christmas when my brother-in-law who works at a transport company casually mentioned that things were going to get really bad.
There's been a big change in the past 2-3 weeks in grocery stores where I live (Canadian prairies) and it's getting harder to find marked down food before somebody else snatches it up. And this week, between Easter and the most hyped up winter storm in my lifetime, a lot of stores are pretty much cleaned right out.
Been shopping at Costco a lot too. Between cheaper gas, stable prices, and fewer supply chain disruptions (ask a trucker about this, they tend to love dealing with Costco because it's so well organized) it's the cheapest place around again for the first time in a few years. But every day there is getting to be as busy as Christmas because everyone else is figuring that out too.
I'm not looking forward to summer. There's not too many desperate people around...yet. As much as I like to pretend I can be a prepper type and brace for the hard times ahead, there's a part of me that knows I might be in deep shit soon enough.

Australian pharmacies have been rationing that shit since forever, the Chinese onsellers were buying out the stock of every pharmacy in a district and shipping it back to China because Chinese firms thought white paint was an acceptable additive to domestic products.
Ditto Australian pharmacies comment. The Chings buy in bulk and send it to families in China. Going on for a decade. Nature equipped REAL women with a solution though.
Yea... My youngest is years past baby formula, but my wife made it herself. She had two feeding nozzles factory-installed. Only had embarrassing lactation issues a couple times when we were getting frisky. That stuff that came from my wife's chest was much better for the baby, a hell of a lot cheaper, and helped her loose most of the baby weight, at least for the first three. Of course, if mom can't eat... -Just a Chemist
Just got back from my weekly run to the grocery store. Last week the dry beans section was few to be had. This week, fully stocked. The coffee section was fully stocked as usual. Prices have remained relatively stable, except of course the oz's per container are dropping. Chicken, pork and beef fully stocked, although prices are rising. The only thing they didn't have was petite sirloin, which has been a bargain at $5.99/lb. Other cuts start at $unobtanium.
Screw baby formula. Let's talk about rifle and pistol primers.
ReplyDeleteLet’s go Brandon!

You can make baby formula. My mother brought me home from the hospital with written instructions on how to make formula.
ReplyDeleteMake baby formula? Women today don't even know how to use cloth diapers!
DeleteOr warm mineral oil to cure a kid's earache.
