So he bans unnumbered (I refuse to call them ghost guns) firearms. How's he going to enforce that, search each and every home in the US?
I don't expect him to address just these two things. I'm also expecting him to announce a ban on magazines that hold more than 10 rounds and possibly even an AR pistol ban unless they're registered with the ATF.
A national ban on over 10 would be a de facto ban on many firearms. For the magazines they come with have a capacity greater than ten.

Not really. You can pin a magazine with a roll pin so that it won't take more than 10 rounds. I've seen it done in California gun shops so Californians could look cool with a '30 round' magazine while at the range.
DeleteAnd you can be sure that the moment that's announced, every gun manufacturer in the US will start cranking out 10 rounders.
So one is required to make an alteration. For that a certified gunsmith is required or the legal owner goes to jail. Where is Congress? Congress makes law. Why aren't these alphabet agencies being dissolved already?
DeleteWhat Wirecutter said. Everything in Kanada is that way. 5 Rds for semi-auto rifles, 10 for handguns. The loopholes, if a handgun mag also happens to fit a rifle, then 10 is legal for _that_ rifle. Exceptions for 22 rifles...
DeletePop rivets are currently acceptable as plugs.
And who really believes any government agency that the number of unnumbered firearms showing up at crime scenes is actually increasing? Show the data or shut up, ATF/FBI. seriously, you have no credibility.
ReplyDeleteWhat is the ratio of unnumbered to numbered firearms anyway? IF that is increasing, then they should expect that increase to apply proportionately at crime scenes too.
Screw pudding brain, and his halfwit entourage.
ReplyDeleteYou are just creating more charge’s that get tacked on and used for plea bargain. It will stop nothing and continue to stratifie the population which means more for the underground economy to work with.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if they mean real "ghost" guns, those made at home\small shops and never meant to enter into interstate commerce OR guns with the serial numbers filed off. SIGNIFICANT difference, except to the totalitarian GOV officials.
ReplyDeleteI have several pre-68 guns without any serial numbers, I guess they consider those ghost guns too.
Here in Maryland, they have exempted pre-'68 firearms from the new legislation persecuting hobbyists for making their own firearms. Apparently the pre-'68 guns are quite harmless.
DeleteThey are actually targeting the proliferation of 80% kits that are still time-consuming and challenging to finish, and likely beyond the capability of the average criminal or politician they keep letting back out of jail.
Making our own firearms has been legal for several hundred years, but is suddenly a problem? Doubtful. The Maryland law required an FFL to do the number assignment and engraving as if they manufactured it themselves, and then registration with the state police.
It is, in reality, just another way to make a list of firearms owners that are exercising their rights to enable effective persecution and probable confiscation in the future.
The problem with non-compliance is that is makes that home-crafted firearm useless... Can't use it for defense, can't travel with it, can't take it to the range... To non-comply just means you will have a secret, and a secret liability that is only useful when thing eventually go sideways.

"Police departments report"..... Hmmmmmm. Have we documentation that We The People can examine as to if these are truly 80 % frame guns, guns with serial numbers remover, or guns manufactured from readily available parts from a hardware store? Please excuse me wanting documentation.
ReplyDeleteWell. if it was six people familiar with the matter, then it must surely be true. The pandemic only had five.
ReplyDeleteI thought any gun could turn someone into a ghost if aimed properly, therefore.....
ReplyDeleteTime to take the boat out.
ReplyDeleteI read somewhere this morning that the new ATF nominee was Obozo's room mate in law school. Go figure.

Fuck him up his wrinkly old ass...won't comply.
ReplyDeleteincreasingly cropping up at crime scenes - they found two in the last year as opposed to one in the previous 20.
ReplyDeleteTry to enforce it in TX, fuckwad.
ReplyDeleteJust try.
Make sure you issue your enforcers their own personal body bags.
