And while the White House would love to claim the rise is solely due to Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, the precipitous rise began over a year before that. That’s largely due to Biden’s anti-energy policies. While campaigning for president, he routinely promised to end the use of fossil fuels. As president, he’s shut down pipelines and frozen federal leases. The United States, after becoming energy independent under Donald Trump, is once again reliant on foreign tyrants.
With that said, the Biden administration has been touting a “big” announcement to help lower gas prices. Would the president green-light more pipelines, fast-track the permit process, and/or open up leases that are easier and cheaper to drill?
Nah, he’s going to allow an E15 blend during the summer months instead.
I'm changing his name to Dumb F**k Biden. DFB
ReplyDeleteSo when you fry your motor, you can run out and get an EV.
ReplyDeleteIt's not about the price of gas, it's about donations from ethanol producers.
ReplyDeleteprice of corn will skyrocket. invest in CORN.
ReplyDeleteNah. He'll just make a deal with Putin and get corn from Russia.
DeleteWrong on so many levels. Aside from the damage E15 does to the cars, this idiocy reduces the amount of grain available for food, where food shortages are certain, and third world starvation and chaos are likely.
ReplyDeleteCombine starving third world populations with nonexistent borders and you have an engineered chaotic time, just in time to declare a state of emergency before the elections.
Looking at DemonRat politicians words and actions, they do not seem resigned to losing in the Fall, which makes me wonder "why not?".
Just what i need a better way to ruin engines, and starve many people.
ReplyDeleteGasoline contains 20,000 BTUs per pound and ethanol contains 12,800 BTUs per pound. When you buy fuel at the pump, you are buying energy. E 15 contains about 2% less energy than E 10, So your gas mileage will be about 2% less. The Biden administration expects this move to lower gas prices by about $.10 a gallon. So, if gas is $4.00 per gallon, 2% of that is 8 cents a gallon, so the real reduction in prove is about 2 cents a gallon. Let’s go Brandon!
ReplyDeleteQUESTION: To avoid engine-damaging effects of E15 for the June-mid-September period, can I get something close to E10 (or better) by tanking with E15 *AND* ethanol-free (available at my Wawa as "boat fuel") in a 5:1 ratio (or so)? Any other recommendations?
ReplyDeleteThanks for your informed responses.
It probably won’t ruin the car engine because modern vehicles have ethanol compatible materials in the fuel system, but you are buying fewer MPG for your money. Fill up on gas for your lawnmower, chainsaw and other such small engine tools before the change because their manufacturers have not yet figured out to switch seals to alcohol compatible materials. And
ReplyDeleteI use only high octane or non-ethanol gas in all my small engine equipment. They run better and last much longer and with fewer problems than using 87 or 89 octane fuel. Have been doing it for years. Suggest people do the same.
DeleteRemember a few years ago, small engine manufacturers started marketing premix fuel for your small stuff, like Weedeaters and chainsaws? Damn pricy, but I tried some, and it runs well.
DeleteAnyway, some research said it was premium unleaded, no ethanol, 2 stroke oil where required.
I tried some premium in some of my small engines. Starts better, even after overwintering or oversummering.
Have to buy premium, cuz midgrade is a mixture of the 2 grades.
I'm sold. Don't know how many times I've had to degunk carburetors that sat idle for half a year with regular in them. Running them dry before storage didn't seem to work, either.
Anon@9:47 - I started using that factory pre-mix last year and my small engines run so well on it, I won't use anything else. The shelf life is a hell of a lot longer than regular gas too, something like 2 years.
DeleteI'm not surprised that the Big Move that Joe Potato makes is literally the worst, the stupidest, and most ill-timed action you could come up with. No surprise.
ReplyDeleteHe's not here to help. Time to nuke DC, if they live, we all die.
Fucking idiot puppet of other idiots
ReplyDeletedevoting more acreage to corn, and then subsidizing it ... genius
not to mention the numerous deleterious effects of ethanol on engine components
I seem to remember when this ethanol from corn started up bigly, there were food riots, somewhere nearby, like Mexico. Anybody else have better recall?
DeleteI vaguely remember that happening. I don't remember the riots but I do remember tortilla shortages that were creating problems.
DeleteEthanol is another pie in the sky leftist fantasy. They're a bunch of delusionists.
The Enviros are critical of this move because growing corn in order to produce ethanol is more carbon intensive than is producing conventional automobile fuels through drilling for oil and refining to make gasoline.
ReplyDeleteAmerica is stuck on stupid.
It will kill most vehicles over 10-15 years old.
ReplyDeleteThe level of stupidity is astronomical with this move. If anything do away with ethanol added to fuel. Divert the corn for feed for chickens, hogs, and cattle. That would help bring the price of meat down while the corn farmer still makes ends meet. The only people out are the ones running the stills creating the ethanol.
ReplyDeleteBack when diesel was $3.20 a gallon under Obutthead I had my farmer uncle tell me gasoline and Diesel had to be more than $3.50 a gallon to be cost effective. With fuel at $1.80 a gallon it was a trade off as it cost a gallon of fuel to create a gallon of ethanol. Half of his corn crop has gone to the ethanol distillers except for when fuel dropped below $2 a gallon.
I run premium non-ethanol in all of my mower, UTV, chainsaw, etc.
ReplyDeleteAlso run it in my cars.
Ethanol is real bad for engine life spans.
Let's Go Brandon!!
Folks...the corn used in ethanol is NOT used in people food. It is strictly cattle feed. And after "they" use it to make ethanol; they use the "spent grain" as cattle feed.
ReplyDeleteSo your tortillas are safe.
Thanks for the news; I was getting worried there for a while. But still, raising corn for conversion to ethanol to mix with gasoline is a stupid use of resources.
DeleteThe land is taken out of production. The farmer is using his time, his fuel, his fertilizer, his machinery to produce corn for fuel. The corn for food is reduced.
DeleteJohn, you're assuming that the farmer wasn't already growing fuel corn for the past 20 years or so. We've got farmers here that have been growing either sileage or fuel corn since we moved here 6 years ago. I know it's not food because they don't harvest it until the stalks are dry and dead.
DeleteDon't get me wrong, I'm not supporting ethanol based gas, but sometimes things just aren't the way we assume they are.
