John Colter and Colter's Run

John Colter was known for being the first white man who entered the area of Yellowstone national park, his time with the Lewis and Clark expedition and “Colter’s Run” where he entered a footrace for his life. His life as the first mountain man and how he discovered West Yellowstone is why he is a legend of the Wild West​.

    A couple of months ago I watched an old movie in which the Coulter character had quite a part.
    Yes it was a full length movie. Yes it was from Hollywood. Yes it was pretty dang accurate with only a few embellishments.

    That ground he ran over by Three Forks, MT is just covered in small rocks and tiny cactus. What a man.
