SARASOTA, Fla. — As Sarasota County investigators continue looking into whether the deputy who shot and killed a man during an eviction followed procedure, the local branch of the NAACP is reacting to the incident.
Leaders of the group said they are also awaiting answers after the deadly shooting occurred during an eviction on April 1.
Give it time…
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's still daylight. I'm thinking that the level of heartbreak for the victim, who was no doubt a pillar of the community and loved by all, will reach critical mass right after the candlelight vigil and then grief shopping for home electronics will commence a couple of hours after sunset. After all, you have to allow time for the buses from Georgia and Alabama, you can't just charter those things at the drop of a hat you know.
Delete"Even if they are justifiable, how can we minimize these types of incidents from occurring within our communities," Harvey said.
ReplyDeleteUmm, try obeying the law?
They're probably still negotiating pay and benefits.
ReplyDeleteI recommend that a LAW be passed (don't hate me, less gumbit is best) that requires the police in these situations to contact the local NACP (yes) office, have them sign a contract for responsibility, and escort them to the scene of the incident. If the NACP rep can't get the perp to leave, can't de-escalate the situation, then the cops leave making the NACP responsible for the rent, elec, etc, until such time as the perp decides to leave. If the NACP rep is stabbed (or otherwise injured) in the melee, it's on them, no lawsuit, no arrest, cops back out and call another backup NACP rep. Rinse, repeat.
ReplyDeleteI see what you did there and I agree. That group has never been about 'advancement'.
DeleteWell, the NO RIOT thing does not surprise me here in Central Polk County Florida. As Sheriff Grady Judd said "we have guns and know how to use them"! An armed society is a polite society.
ReplyDeleteA couple of $150 prison issue concave riot shields and this shooting would not have happened. But that would require cops with common sense instead of the thugs we are cursed with.
ReplyDelete"Perp". SMDH The dude was 65 and had lived there for 11 years. Maybe they should have sent someone to offer some help instead of thugs to make him homeless? Nah, best to roll in heavy and escalate until the "perp" fights back.
Exactly. 'Look what you made me do!'
DeleteGotta agree with you on this one.
DeleteWhere's the MASSIVE RIOTS over this? Not a single word by the MSM. The landing page of FOX17 hasn't changed in two days. It doesn't change because Whitmer is baiting the public. She needs this distraction from the phony FBI kidnapping trials. The video is out there. The MSM won't even touch this.

FTA: "The female deputy who fired her weapon......"
ReplyDeleteFirst they gotta decide which special interest group gets priority on this one.
Not far from me! He was told to leave and didn’t. Hence, the officers showed up and sadly it ended badly.
