A raging success - 69 guns in a city of how many millions of people?

NEW YORK - A gun buyback program has netted dozens of weapons in New York City, where authorities are battling a wave of gun violence.

Police and prosecutors said 69 guns were turned in anonymously on Saturday at the event at a Brooklyn church, no questions asked. In exchange, people received $200 gift cards - paid for with drug and gambling forfeiture - and iPads donated by the owner of the iconic cheesecake maker Junior’s restaurant.

  1. I wonder how many of those firearms were actually functioning. Maybe a good way to collect $200 from a picked over 'parts gun', long obsolete and very rarely seen any more.

  2. I need to find one of these gun buybacks. I inherited a Bryco .380 with a box of bullets that had 6 missing about 14 years ago. I have cleaned it and everything seems correct but it is a one shot deal as it jams. I had a buddy go through it also and he is baffled as well on getting it to fire more than one shot. When I checked the serial number it is a mid 80's gun and a POS. It is a liability to me and I would feel right selling it to anybody.

    1. Sell it to a democrat. They are gun 'experts' so have no idea that a gun jamming after a single shot is unacceptable.

  3. These days, I have concerns what bureaucrats will do with the weapons- arm the open borders invaders? Antifa?
Is it safe to arm a government?

    1. They can't use these to arm the government. Aside from most of them being defective (or no one who knows the market at all would be swapping one for $200), there are so many different models that they'd have to train their troops/police/hired thugs on nearly every gun made since 1890. They wouldn't solve that by hiring people who knew a lot about guns already, since those people would know that the laws they are supposed to enforce are stupid, unconstitutional, and often intended to catch the law-abiding while not affecting Democrats' natural constituency (government workers and criminals, but I repeat myself). Nor will they hire people who are ignorant about guns and train them to use this diversity of weaponry - they'd often end up in the same place as if they'd hired NRA instructors to begin with.
