Did anybody think to check on him?

I was taking Lisa to see LadyDoc the other day and saw a bunch of those Kentucky Black Buzzards all over Pork Chop's yard. Must've been 30 of those suckers just hanging out, so I turned around to show Lisa, then saw Chop coming out of his house with a shotgun. It appeared he had the situation in hand.

  1. That meme is more accurate than most realize. About 12 years ago in Dallas a brutal murder of a man (by a crazed lunatic) took place in a city park. The murdered man and his wife lived in our neighborhood. Committed, loving couple, no children. Months later, the wife, unable to cope with the grief, committed suicide in their home. The first indication that something was wrong were buzzards circling over their home, which prompted attempts by those next door to reach the woman. Then the police were called. She was found in the garage. I believe it was about 36 hours from the time of her death until the police went in.

  2. the nasal openings of carrion eating birds are very large, so they have a great sense of smell. also for other reasons.

      Correlation does not equal causation.
I have huge nasal openings but a terrible sense of smell.

  3. Few years ago, I had a flock descend on my roof. Some of the nasty critters were even dive bombing my window. Not how you want to wake up on a Sunday morning.

    1. Buzzards can smell carrion from miles away. Kind of makes you wonder why there aren't huge flocks of them circling DC.

  6. Could be a gas leak. They are attracted to the chemical they add to natural gas. Gas companies watch for them to spot leaks.

  7. They used to follow the armies marching to battle in the civil war. Knew that lunch would be served shortly.

  8. Buzzards over in W. Virginia will blind baby lambs, and then eat the little ones alive. Fed protected, and herdsmen have to ask for Fed permission to eliminate. F. em. Here in E Colo, my labs chase hawks all day long.... if THAT doesn't work, well........
