For Panhandle Johnny:

I received your letter yesterday, but my hands are awful stiff today and it's easier to type this out than write it in a letter.
I'm not sure you can read my handwriting on a good day anyway.

Yup, after I got out of the army I moved away from Modesto and lived in the Riverbank/Oakdale area for about 10-12 years. It was a good life back then, before all the urban sprawl started really taking off.
Neither house that I lived in back then still stands. They were basically shacks even back then, matter of fact one of them was an old tack shed they converted over to a small dairy worker's house, maybe 600 square feet.

I do remember Ogilvie's General Store in Farmington, right there on the main intersection and in one of the oldest buildings of town, right? It was always a nice stop for a cold beer on a hot summer's day.
I haven't thought about that place in I don't know how many years.

Oh, both me and Lisa got a big kick out of your stamp!
