Yeah, I'm gonna go with about 30 seconds after the very first bird was used to carry a message was the origin. Sometime around 25 centuries ago, maybe. With a rock and a sling, or maybe a bow and arrow.
I spent three years inside of a US Marine tank in the 1960's ... And we never had birds to communicate. Actually they may have been preferable to our crappy radios!!!
A first cousin of my grandmother was killed about 10 miles almost directly south of Albert on that very same day. He was shot in the face while on a salvage party just south of Caix. A first cousin of my Grandfather was killed the next day not far from there. He lived where I live now.
