Garry Adelman of the American Battlefield Trust details the most common misconceptions about the Civil War including why did soldiers fight, was George McClellan really that bad of a general and what is up with all of those Civil War ghost tours?
Your right Miami. Why did the South Secede? Because they had every damn right to and didn't need a freakin reason. The real reason was the north was sucking the money from the south through tariffs on cotton at a rate of 60% because the northern industries couldn't compete with British industries which had a couple hundred year head start. A bill was working its way through congress which was going to raise tariffs on cotton to 90% which stinken lincoln pledged to sign if he was elected. Hello war between the states.
American Battlefield Trust does terrific work. Preserving land, educating and inspiring. There videos are top notch!
