"I identify as a Delta Smelt"

SACRAMENTO, Calif. - A bumblebee is a fish under California law, a California court said in a ruling this week.

And thus, the bumblebee should be protected by the state’s endangered species ordinances, court documents show.

  1. It's really more about legalease for determining who is responsible for conservation efforts and studies related to terrestrial invertebrates. The law previously determined that aquatic invertebrates were fish for similar purposes, because otherwise invertebrates don't fall under any organization's jurisdiction. Probably bees need to be either fish or plants and given that there was a precedent for crustaceans to be considered fish it was easy to do the same with bees.

It's kind of like how as far as the law is concerned, in certain contexts, rabbits are poultry.

JFC. Shit like this makes my brain hurt. A bee is a fish, a man is a woman, whats next? A cucumber is bacon?

I hope aliens show up soon and kidnap me. Can't possibly be any worse than this crap.
