In what appears to be a seismic political misfire, Canadian gun stores have been reporting a massive surge in handgun sales after the country’s leftist prime minister, Justin Trudeau, announced that he would be implementing gun control laws totally freezing the import and sale of this class of firearm.
Many shops in the country have now reportedly sold out of pistols entirely, despite extremely restrictive laws already in place in the country which can make the purchase of a handgun onerously difficult.

Thankfully, I already have pistols in .45, 9mm and 22LR...and a wife that'll probably divorce me if I walk in the door with any more. Be damned if I know where I put them...if anyone comes asking.
ReplyDelete(Old Tech) Wait until this winter when there will be an epidemic of guns lost during ice fishing.
ReplyDeleteA lot of Canadian whiskey traveled south during prohibition I think we should return the favor
ReplyDeleteI have faith in Castreau... she'll figure out some other way to prevent the hated peasantry from owning those evil objects.

It's not THAT onerous. Ask someone from the UK. But it takes a lot of time. I think 4 weeks is the best turnaround I've had. You pay, the dealer sends in paperwork, and then you wait.
ReplyDeleteHowever the current RUMOR is, the CFO (Chief Firearms Officer), the dude what signs off the transfer, has put ALL restricted transfers on hold, until Feds "clarify" things. This means, at least in Ontario, the purchaser might never get possession of a gun he paid for months ago.
And the guns are essentially "worthless", as there will be no further transfer during owners life, and no bequeathal, like one can/could do with various restricted and prohibited ordnance up till now. Use it and lose it when you pass.
Most long guns are still cash n carry, paperwork free, legal when both parties have valid licences.
For now.
Follow along: Trudeau to implement (more) gun control laws while on the other hand, he does this. https://calgarysun.com/opinion/columnists/lilley-trudeau-reducing-sentencing-requirements-for-serious-gun-crimes
ReplyDeleteSound familiar?
