NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A new state law has expanded criminal asset forfeiture for 12 statutes, mostly surrounding rape and kidnapping. It’s one of the first laws of its kind in the United States.
The new law means criminals who violate those laws could lose their homes, cars, weapons, and any property involved in the commission of the crime.

ReplyDeleteWhat are the other offenses the round out 'mostly' to 100%
Sounds a bit shady to me
Paraphrasing a line in the article:
ReplyDeleteAccording to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Asset Seizure is the second-fastest growing criminal industry just behind drug trafficking.
Asset forfeiture laws are legalized government theft.....

Are you sure seizing of private property (it is not forfeited) is only for items involved in the crime? I doubt it.
ReplyDeleteAsset forfeiture is nothing but theft and corruption. There is no due process involved, and as such should NOT be allowed.
ReplyDeletethey do that shit in Western Australia (the California of Australia), aside from "we got sick of hung juries so now if they cannot decide after 3 hours, the judge lets them swing with "majority verdict" now. There was the case where the guy committed a crime in A house, so they went after HIS house. Slippery slope.
ReplyDelete... or the case where SOMEBODY ELSE committed a crime (burglary) and killed themselves with a ketamine overdose in a veterinarian's house, so the government moved to seize a rental property that the veterinarian formerly owned, from his brother.
DeleteSlippery slope indeed.
They should enact asset forfeiture for the property of illegal aliens.
