FBI intends to coerce Missouri sheriff to violate state laws regarding CCW records statute

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Today, Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt sent a letter to FBI Director Christopher Wray demanding that they cease their attempts to illegally obtain information from local sheriffs on Missourians who have concealed carry permits. Missouri law specifically prohibits the sharing of information on concealed carry permit holders to any entity – local, state, federal, or otherwise.

  1. If we gave it to them they would leak it, just like the California idiots did.

  3. Arizona sends the CCW wallet card in an envelope bearing on the outside in large bold letters, plain for anyone to see:

    DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY
    DIVISION OF CONCEALED WEAPONS

Its maddening that the state seemingly does not understand the intent of concealed. Nothing like getting the attention of noisy neighbors. My mail has been steamed open by noisy neighbors!

  4. They should arrest any FBI agent attempting to get the information. They have no lawful authority to ask for or to see it. They are violating the civil rights of every permit holder under color of law which is a felony. Moreover, they can't demand information without a warrant so they are violating the 4th amendment. The FBI has no right to demand anything from non- federal employees absent a warrant. The FBI is a criminal organization and needs to be abolished.

  5. Missouri is a constitutional carry state, permits are not required, but the Fibbies don't care nor do they need that data for any constructive purpose.

  6. The Missouri department of revenue already played this game with the Feds back around 2013 when they handed the CCW database over, which is why administration was handed over to the sheriff and constitutional carry was enacted.

  7. A CCW permit holder in Missouri does get some additional privileges over those without, although a permit is not mandatory to carry concealed. Personally, I don't think that the benefits outweigh the risk of being on record as a gun owner.

  8. I forget which state it is, but they deliberately pull over out-of-staters with CCWs.

    1. New Jersey. They run the plates of out of state vehicles and if it comes back that the owner has a CC permit, it gets pulled over and searched.
