Truckers protesting a state labor law have effectively shut down cargo operations at the Port of Oakland, it was announced Wednesday.
“The shutdown will further exacerbate the congestion of containers” and port officials are urging operations at shipping terminals to resume, a port statement said.
“We understand the frustration expressed by the protestors at California ports,” Port of Oakland Executive Director Danny Wan said in the port statement. “But, prolonged stoppage of port operations in California for any reason will damage all the businesses operating at the ports and cause California ports to further suffer market share losses to competing ports.”
That may be a sign that you're losing, Danny. They got you by the balls and it ain't pretty.
Just another example of stupid .gov passing laws that they think people will just comply with instead of retaliating. Hopefully all CA ports are shut down soon, then go right up the coast to the Canadian border. Force all of these container to either transit the Canal or make the trip around the Horn. Then, shut down all of the Gulf and East coast ports.
They think they can get away with business killing laws and regs. Guess what? All China's U.S. bound goods have to move through a port somewhere to get to their internal distribution points. Pretty soon Amazon, Walmart and Home Despot will be screaming UNCLE.
