They should've burned him at the stake/tree/whatever

SALEM — A man who reportedly ignited wildfires in a remote, forested corner of Oregon was apprehended by three local residents and tied to a tree until police arrived, a sheriff said Tuesday.

Federal, state and county authorities responded to a radio call Monday from a U.S. Bureau of Land Management employee who reported a man was walking along a gravel road and setting fires, in the forest some 25 miles northwest of Grants Pass. Ground crews, assisted by local residents, and three helicopters quickly got the two fires under control, Curry County Sheriff John Ward said.

  1. Were I out deer hunting, and I happened upon such behavior, I would be responsible and pick up my spent brass.

  2. "“An ambulance crew was asked to respond due to some injuries that the suspect apparently received from falling down."

    (Deputy) 'What happened to him?'

(Three guys that caught him setting fires) 'He fell.'

  3. Remember: this is Orygone! The Governor (Kate Brown) will probably pin a medal on him in a public ceremony and have the DA bring a criminal suit against the three who tied him to a tree.

  5. I still stand behind the belief that the fires over the last couple of years have been coordinated up and down the i5 corridor.

  9. The Pine Barrens in NJ have fires set every year by people in the belief that it results in a good wild blueberry crop. I don't know if the fire really affects the blueberries, but many people believe it.
