A small explosion happened at the base of the Hoover Dam in Nevada on Tuesday morning, causing a fire that was quickly extinguished, local officials and witnesses say. There were no reports of injuries.
The incident happened just after 10 a.m. on Tuesday when an explosion occurred at the turbine house near the base of the dam. It was followed by a fire, sending a large plume of black smoke into the sky.
Transformers can, and will, explode. I imagine they have on in reserve for such occasions. If not, there may be a long wait for a replacement. Meanwhile, someone is probably wondering when their electricity come back on.
And Lake Mead is getting close to not being able to run its turbines due to the ow water level. youtubes on it. The interesting part if people in charge of water management in AZ, NV, and CA say on news programs they have 'no idea' what to do about it.
I'm not sure which is worse: Was this intentional (probably not in this case), or simple result of non-maintenence, due to our slide toward Turd World status (the likely case).
When you hire cheap help for your maintenance crew ( Asian H1B's or one of Brandon's south of the border river swimmers) this is what happens. Cheap labor is not skilled, skilled labor is not cheap. Todays highly narcissistic and generally unable to think for themselves modern college educated business majors can't been to grasp that dismal fact. And so here we are, with stuff blowing up and burning down all across the country. Try not to blame evil intent to a situation where simple stupidity is the true cause.
Not really sure what exploded but if it were a transformer the last thing you want to use on that type of fire is water. Too little info to make a determination. But in any case just remember one thing that out of all the turbines used or in operation at the present time TWO are used just to keep the lights on in the facility. . BTW if it was infact a transformer well then these things are no longer made in the USA. Depending upon the KV rating, like those used at nukes at 500Kv, well then you will probably get to dead pool long before the transformer gets replaced. I am not saying this is whats going on right now. It probably isn't. Just a dose of reality. All of this is mere speculation on my part. Be wary. Just sayin'.
Our country is being attacked from within
