I've also heard the stripes should be at least the width of two fingers held together. The rapping on the outside I never found to work very well. Of course I'm deaf so maybe that's the culprit. We grew melons this year and they were delicious. We went with the yellow field spot and two finger spacing of stripes for harvest.

ReplyDeletealthough the last one I got was a sugar baby. they are solid green. I used the thump test on that one.
BTW, Epsom salts in the soil sweetens the crops.
I generally like the melons out of the bra before testing.
