  4. My old True Value propane water heater is still going after over 40 years. Probably weighs a ton just from the calcium deposits but still works. My stepson has water heater powered by his outdoor wood burner that is attached to his electric water heater and during the fall, winter, and spring months, replaces the need for his electric water heater.

  5. My dad had a wood boiler pre-heat to his hot water heater as well. I suspected fissures in the jacket as the hot water tap was always a bit "Creosotey"
