Legalize weed, they said. Drug crime will go down, they said.

A man was killed and another was wounded following a shooting in Hollywood Saturday afternoon.

*

Police say the shooting was triggered by a fight outside a cannabis event.

*****

That was the war cry of the marijuana activists in California when they were pushing for legalization years ago. Between burglaries, rip-offs, robberies, etc., drug crimes went up.  Scumbags are gonna rob and steal whatever they can. Legalizing weed just gave them more opportunities.
Hey, I'm all for legalization of weed, just don't use bullshit excuses to do it.

  1. Seriously? People will fight and kill over anything so we should make everything illegal because that makes a better society? You're insane.

    1. Who said that? Did I say that? If you had paid even the slightest bit of attention, you'd have seen that I said, and I quote, "Hey, I'm all for legalization of weed, just don't use bullshit excuses to do it."
And just in case you missed this too, I also said, "Scumbags are gonna rob and steal whatever they can."
Fuuuuuck..... Next time pay attention before you waste both my time and yours with a bullshit comment.

  2. There is only one reason that political leaders, mostly on the Left, are supporting legalization of this harmful substance, i.e. it is easier to extract honey from a beehive when the inhabitants are under the influence of smoke. And it is easier to extract freedoms from Americans when a substantial portion are stoned and docile, not to mention made more dependent on government by this "innocuous" drug.

    1. Meh. I was every bit as conservative when I smoked weed every day as I am now.

    2. How many people have died from cannabis vs alcohol? Not even close.

    3. I belonged to NORML hell in the early seventies. Had the patch on my jacket. For those who don't know of this organization it was the National Organization for Reforming Marijuana Laws. I doubt it's still around. I don't smoke the shit today but still support it being legal.

  3. This is one I can't agree with you on, Ken. Look at the states where it has been legalized. I'm not saying that it doesn't have a place but things sure seem to go down hill where it's legal.

    2. I'm the only person I know that gets combative when I smoke weed. I don't start shit, but I don't take any either when I'm loaded.

    3. Kenny,
I was never a weed guy, preferring beer and whiskey, but I did get a broken nose while wrestling while on Thai Stick, but that may have been the opium

    4. You might have cause and effect reversed. The states where it's legalized tend to be Democrat Party utopias where crime is excused.

    5. No. Here in Florida 'medical' marijuana is now legal and crime is going out the roof. And the modern shit makes people not-mellow, very not-mellow. I see it in my area all the time.

  5. Amendment 64 was the beginning of the end for Colorado. My number one complaint was the people flooded in. I don't like people to close to me.

  6. Popeye's Chicken Sandwich is also legal

  7. I would make the argument that decriminalizing all drugs would inherently reduce crime. It would also push substances into mainstream markets and remove a large amount of funds from organized crime. Just a thought.

  8. Of course it's harmful, but filling up our jails and trampling on our constitutional rights is harmful, too. Nixon declared the 'War On Drugs™' in the '70s. We lost. It's time to surrender.

  9. anon 8:33 I doubt legalizing is causing those states to go downhill. Pretty sure they were going downhill anyway. I also doubt that people never smoked it before because it was illegal, and decided to smoke now that it has been decriminalized.

  10. For some reason NO ONE assumes there will be a HUGE increase in ailments (cancers, neurological) in twenty years caused by pot smoking.

    1. That's because everybody else realizes that people have been smoking weed for a long, long time. Think centuries here. Why would there be an increase just because it was legalized? I seriously doubt that anybody that wasn't inclined to smoke it before are going to start just because it was made legal.
I mean, the sale and consumption of white chocolate is legal and I don't eat that shit. Alcohol is legal and I very rarely drink anymore. Cigars are legal and I don't smoke those.

  11. My wife considered medical marijuana for her arthritis. Turns out it would be cheaper buying it on the street. $450 for a doctor consultation, $100 every 3 months for a card, and that is before buying any of the stuff from an overpriced dispensary.
