Looks like the word on the street might have some merit

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - Doctor Scott Davis is a Combustion Systems Expert and CEO of Gexcon.

He’s a seasoned explosion investigator, and he says when you investigate an explosion like the one on Weinbach Avenue, you’ve got to start ruling things out before you can land on a cause.

After seeing video and our coverage of the incident, he has an educated guess.

  1. That one looks like natural gas. The upper wall deformation is obvious which would rule out propane.

  2. Guy looks like Woody Harrelson, and sounds just about as nutty. So you say there was a substantial fuel-air mixture volume, huh? Awesome. The flash looks like it was at ground floor level.

  3. The cause of the fire? Simple. Heat, fuel, and oxygen in the right proportions. Always accurate, but never acceptable on a report.

  4. It is a sad story as the couple was on the spectrum and were denied benefits from the State when they said they wanted to get married. So they got jobs & got married with out the States help. Not sure what the word on the street is? Kind of out of the loop here in Paradise.

    1. My stepson and his wife knew the couple and said that a friend had installed a new gas water heater for them the day before. Speculation has it there wasn't a proper seal and the gas leaked, causing the explosion.

    1. The couple were mentally handicapped. Everybody that knew them, including my stepson and his wife, would disagree with you.
