PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Police Department is investigating a shooting where an attempted robbery victim gained control over a suspect and shot him.
At first glance this is a good story. What makes it a great story is the would-be car-jacker is 24 years old and the target is 69. Tyrone got his punk-ass kicked by a senior citizen. That is priceless. Tyrone's street cred just fell off a cliff. After he is released from the hospital I suspect he will scale back his ambitions and just jack tricycles.
yup, sounds like philly. some asshole walking by thought he make a easy score the problem is, there are a lot of vets in philly. some guys went into supply units and the like. but there where a whole lot of them in combat arms too. and a lot of those old guys do not play well with the likes of Tyrone. he chose poorly. there is a really fucked up mindset there as well, if they can not steal it. they will try to fuck it up somehow. and they steal stuff they can't use too ? it just the fact that they stole it. but really, the last few years I lived there, you had to stand guard while unloading your car and getting it in the house. it was that fucking bad. 5 years now and I don't miss that shithole. shame really as it was a neat city when I was a kid- 1960's anyone who could have moved has done so. as there are no real jobs there anymore.
My in-laws lived in Mt Airy on Temple Road in the early '70s just as it was starting to change over from mostly Jewish to black. We arrived there one Saturday afternoon to find the new next door neighbors front door broken down and the cops taking the occupants away on a drug selling charge. This was about three blocks away from then mayor Frank Rizzo's house. Maybe that's why they got special attention.
Every time I see movie or TV show (when I had TV) with a Black "yout" spouting he was pulled over by the cops because he was "driving while Black" in a place that isn't his neighborhood, I think of events like that in the article. Many stories like that in Detroit back in the late 60s and 70s--but usually with a sadder ending for the victim.
To be honest, I was surprised that the older guy unloading his groceries wasn’t charged with firing within city limits and attempted murder. Things are looking up. Buddha
Hasn't been charged.... yet. Give it 6 weeks and revisit the story and most likely you'll find the shooter will be charged with something. And the shootee will have his charges dropped or be released on his own recognizance (ROR) or some other bullshit.
After seeing the POS .25 that was held together with duct tape, I wouldn't have bet 25 cents it would actually fire. Guy was lucky it didn't just blow up in his hand. But a happy ending none the less.
Of course don't fight back, let the police investigate and let them out on no bail. Fuck that
