State by state: Abortion laws across the U.S.

The U.S. Supreme Court on June 24 overturned Roe v. Wade, the 1973 decision that had provided a constitutional right to abortion. The ruling was expected to lead to abortion bans in roughly half the states, although the timing of those laws taking effect varies.

  1. Well not too much of a surprise to find that Fox is publishing fake news, stating the abortion is 'banned' and labeling it as 'banned' in Texas where it is just more tightly controlled now. Abortion is still available electively, up to 6 weeks, as per the new heartbeat law. That is by definition 'not banned'. Fox Fake News.

  2. I wish people understood the concepts of rights and privileges, and the differences between them.

  3. Right? Since when does a court decision confer an inalienable right? I always had a difficult time with people insisting that Roe made abortion a ‘constitutional right.’ There is no such thing, and never was, correct? I mean obviously now, Roe’s been overturned. But was that not an inordinate leap? I always bristled and argued when people would state that abortion was a constitutional right. I never saw it as such. I don’t understand how a “right” to kill babies was extrapolated from a court decision. Anyone fee free to help me out.
