A German bakery was slapped with a €330,000 (US$330,000) gas bill after a new energy company suddenly terminated their contract which guaranteed pricing until the end of 2023, Junge Freiheit reported, citing Bild.
"Are they crazy?" said owner Eckehard Vatter, who says he has 14 days to pay the bill. "A year ago, we paid €5,856 per month in gas costs for our large furnaces and heating," he added.

Wow, that's a lot of bread!
ReplyDelete*Was* a lot of bread.
ReplyDelete"Are they crazy?" Was the gas company justified in canceling the contract? Well the gas provider isn't going to lose money.
ReplyDeleteThis is what happens when the green crowd puts a stranglehold on an economy because some teenaged truant yelled at them. The EU governments then decide to make themselves dependent upon a lunatic to power their economies. Real bright. This from our supposed betters on the EU continent. Not that Bribem isn't doing the same to us via a different route.

What was the value of the contract if as soon as the costs went up it could be cancelled? Should have had a healthy cancellation penalty in it. In American contract law, expectation damages would give the new bill right back to the gas company.
ReplyDeleteI just loooooooove Trump's "I told you so".
ReplyDeleteI wonder if those smug German assholes at the U.N. are still laughing.
DeleteLast winter the Europeans the winds were low and so were the temps, they used almost as most energy in gas generated heating to keep the wind turbines from freezing as they got back.
ReplyDeleteThis winter it's even more unlikely that they will get back a net surplus of power from the bird choppers.
With Bite-Me shutting down drilling and fracking here we are not far behind Europe in energy.
ReplyDeleteEngland going to get a lot of illegal German boat people this winter.
