Illinois law will release those charged with second-degree murder without bail

An Illinois law taking effect in the new year will release those charged with second-degree murder, aggravated battery and arson without bail.

The so-called SAFE-T Act would end cash bail and includes 12 non-detainable offences, second-degree murder, aggravated battery and arson without bail, as well as drug-induced homicide, kidnapping, burglary, robbery, intimidation, aggravated DUI, aggravated fleeing and eluding, drug offences and threatening a public official.

  1. You know, if you simply accept that you'll spend a significant amount of your lifespan (say ~25%) in jail no matter what, and combine that with the fact the most crimes have a less than 20% clearance rate, why not be the biggest gangster around? Chances are you won't be caught, if you do the punishment won't be very severe, and even if you do go to jail, chances are that would have happened anyway.

Our justice system is a joke.

    1. Chance of getting caught, e.g.; clearance rate is estimated at 20%. This is great, but money stolen is spent, hence one must rob agian. Therefore this is an AND gate. Steal once, 80% chance of getting away, But twice is .8 times .8 or .64 or 64% chance of getting away, three times is (.8^3)100 or 52%. With each robbery odds of getting caught increase. 8th robbery odds are 16%, 10th is 10%. Overtime you will get caught. Being shot is always possible. Safer to get a job, any job for jail is hard and dead is dead.

  2. Yeah, but on a positive note, you also threaten a public official.

  4. It also prohibits police from doing anything about trespassers. The most they can do is write a ticket.

    1. You do know its Cook County which is the problem and that there are a great many America-loving people in the state who believe in and follow God and our Constitution right?

"Good riddance.", you say. Would you say the same for other states? How many states before you realize there is no where else to run?

I think the good people en masse overrunning those socialist legislatures to be an excellent plan. We don't give up the land, we take it back.

    2. Not the one you replied to. Cook county has dictates policy across the state. They have so many people that the rest of the state and how they vote has no consequence. Much like NYFC and LA, SD, and SF do for New York and California. The ones in those cities need to change their vote, good luck on that.

    3. I guess they must have "voted on it to read it". How else would a public official allow someone to threaten them with out bail?

  8. My more cynical opinion is that the bail-bondsman industry wasn't willing to pay the bribes required.

  9. How can they do that? Serious crimes on that list, dangerous crimes and no law anymore.

  10. bring on the vigilantes . if the government will not get the dirtballs off the streets then , I guess it's up to the locals . If a bunch of the worst offenders (politicians included) got a high speed lead implant the world would be a much better place.
