Maybe they should add another wind turbine

VACAVILLE - During the heat of the day, parts of Solano County were powerless for hours. PG&E hustled to restore energy to the area but for some, it wasn't fast enough.

With temperatures topping out at 115, Vacaville went lights out on one of the hottest days of the year.

  1. I promise vote fraud and election tampering are the cause of 90% of the elected politicians in California.

  3. I lived there ‘70-‘73 while stationed at Travis AFB. I remember it getting a tad warm in the summer.California was great after I made E-5, we actually had a couple of $ to spend. We camped and went to lake tahoe to see the scenery. Went from there to Iceland.

  4. No gasoline powered cars by 2035. Yet, they can't supply current peak electric power load demand and from what I read there's no plan to increase in state supply. Good luck when all of those electric cars get plugged in for overnight recharge in addition to trying to cool their homes to some reasonable temp.

Then the pols wonder why so many businesses and citizens are moving out of state.

  5. every fking time I hear a lib say "RELIABLE renewable energy" I think well hell, who knew rolling brown and blackouts were part of a reliable grid.... can't charge that EV either.

And forget running your AC when it's 110 degrees, that simply won't do. We have a planet to SAVE!!!

can't fix fuking stupid. Nuclear is the ONLY eco friendly energy source that is reliable (well it was, until shillary sold off our uranium to the ruskies).

  8. News from my friend in Marin County yesterday was that it was 97º at Stinson Beach and 105º in Mill Valley, which is just on the other side of Mt Tamalpais from Stinson. He could see the mobs on the beach from his house AND the choo choo on the Coast Highway. Reports were that it had taken people five hours to get from Hwy 101 to Stinson Beach, to NOT cool off unless you got in the ocean itself, and then had to turn right around and spend another five hours getting back to the highway. They hear the newscasters recommending the beach, but they don't hear the part about it not really being cooler there.

The SF Bay Area has gone stark raving mad, Kenny. --nines

    1. FIVE hours from 101 to Stinson Beach?
I'll have to check the SF news. Thanks.

    2. Yeah, I didn't check up on him, but he's right there and will NOT venture down the hill on weekends anymore... actually for years now. It's SO crazy nowadays that even on regular weekends, there are throngs of people going to the beach. There's not enough parking for them all. They have to tow cars that just park on Hwy 1 and end up creating traffic backups.

Last time I drove down 1 to visit him, I noticed it was starting to happen near the beaches on the Sonoma Coast too. TRAFFIC JAMS. Seemingly mostly young people who do not seem to be annoyed by standing in line at the restaurants and stores for hours... or maybe they don't seem to notice... or like it because it's popular.

      I can't tell anymore!

    3. I was running into full parking lots at beaches back in the early 2000s when my ex wanted to go. The only beach I could find that still had parking was Rodeo Beach in the Headlands, and that was getting iffy the last time I was there in 2004 or thereabouts. I can only imagine what it's like today.

    4. Yup. There always were times, special days, where it was terrible. Then it was pretty terrible more often. NOW it's just flat out all the way beyond carrying capacity. At least in Sonoma, most of the beaches have darn big parking areas. Stinson has a huge one, for pay, but it can't hold 'em. All street spaces full. They have to have cops guard the parking area for the grocery store, and for the post office. People make the highway effectively one lane for both directions. They get stuck in the ditches. They nose their cars up the slopes by the roads. UTTER insanity.

    5. The California Coastal Commission wants to make everything west of Hwy 1 off limits to human habitation. All those gazillion-dollar homes maybe already can't do any significant upgrades. No more building for sure. But also there could be coming a date where it will ALL get torn down. WILL THEY PUT PARKING LOTS THERE INSTEAD?

      I'm glad I'm old. xoxoxox

  10. Wrong question: "How much more renewable infrastructure do we need to reliably support our current population?"
Correct question: "What size population can be supported by the current renewable infrastructure?"
    Catching on yet?
