I was a fleet mechanic back in the 70's and early 80's before I got smart and found a better way to make a living but we always recorded the ID numbers on every tire we mounted . The info all went to the DOT . Those tires can be tracked if they were recorded properly .
I worked maintenance at a Goodyear plant for 3 years. There is no id on Goodyear tires other than the mold it was cured in and what week of the year it was cured. Considering the plant i worked at averaged around 25000 tires a shift that doesn't tell you much of anything.
