I can remember when Escalon was a small cattle and farm town with all the businesses being locally owned.
Unfortunately, it straddles Hwy 120 which is pretty much a straight shot into the Bay Area, so when the migration from there to the Valley started back in the 1980s, the population there doubled from about 3500 to more than 7000 souls.
"After they were shot"...
ReplyDeleteIf the writer doesn't know the victim's sex then write the sentence so as to not need pronouns. "After being shot". Woke is poison.
Why would a single individual be described as 'they were shot'. How big was this guy or girl?
ReplyDeleteI used to go through there all the time in my commute to Stockton from Modesto. Main thing I remember about those drives were the sunsets over the mountains, especially when there had been a storm. Beautiful. But the other thing I remember were the smells. Lotsa fertilizer.
ReplyDeleteSee? A farm and cattle town.
DeleteI swear, if they will but leave us with another one store town, it will still be ruined by that store being a Dollar General... where, for certain, it's against company policy to sell even ONE healthy food item. If the consumption of any such item does not at least weaken you temporarily, they don't want it in their store. If only a shotgun would fix this problem.
