CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — A former school nurse in the Clarksville-Montgomery County School system pleaded guilty to child pornography charges on Wednesday.
For the last few years there has been a trend by the media to quickly brand someone in a position of authority who "gets caught with their pants down as "a former_____________" whatever they were (i.e. policeman, teacher, physician, nurse, etc.). Why not just say the school nurse was fired because he was sick SOB who was obsessed with diddling children?
Pedophiles gravitate towards positions and professions where they will have access to children - scoutmaster, choir leader, teacher, pediatric nurse, etc. All adults in such positions must be treated as a suspect, always. After the priest pedophile scandal, our parish church required that minors who were not with a parent must be accompanied by at least two adults, who were not related to each other, at all times - whether in religious instruction classes, outings, retreats, "quiet rooms" during the Mass, whatever. Parents volunteered to be the second person, as the parish could not afford to pay for extra personnel. From the parish's side, it was probably motivated as much by protecting against false accusations as by concern for the children, but we volunteer parents were determined that no child would be left alone with a non-relative adult, ever. Same for my daughter's elementary school - she did not stay after class and "help" a teacher unless another child, and at least one of that child's parents, was in the room as well. I was often the volunteer parent, and I sometimes took time off of work to do it. Lost innocence can never be regained.
He screwed up. All he had to do was claim he was transitioning. "Call me Leon. Yeah, that's my chick name too" and the school would have welcomed "her" back with open arms. Probably would have gotten an invite to the White House!

ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure everybody assumes that.
