SUMMERFIELD, Fla. – A 14-year-old girl caused a stir at a north Florida middle school this week when she handed out more than $10,000 that officials say she stole from her grandmother's safe.
Kids at that age are just old enough to get into trouble. I pilfered a few commemorative and junk silver of fairly inconsequential value from an unattended box, as well as from cleaning out an estate when I was 10-15-ish. I eventually mailed them back earlier in the year, probably some unrelated coins too just to be sure they were all in there, and I suppose that directly lead to receiving a 1858 seated-liberty, half-dollar for my birthday. ^_^ It's less silver but honest silver and comparable in overall value. My fingers gave up their stickiness years ago.
$13,500 is quite a bit more of a problem and I think this kid is going to have a little more difficulty in returning / repaying the remaining $10,300. She is likely to be very busy during school breaks... lots of work to keep her busy. The grand theft charge probably won't go through and if it does, it can be sealed / expunged later (likely).
A safe is useless unless you actually keep it locked.
Running for democrat office at the age of 14?
ReplyDeleteAmazing.
Now that's the kind of "side girl" I could fall in love with.
ReplyDeleteHow did she get into the safe in the first place? Granny left the combination stuck to it?
