i used to be democrat. them assholes no longer represent my political views at all. republicants do a somewhat better job of being closer to what is best for my clan.
VDH totally gets it. I've seen the shift in my industry. Once they were mostly democrats (except me) due to their supposed caring for the middle class. Now most have turned to Republican as they've slowly realized that the democrats are hell bent on destroying their industry and livelihoods. Just check out what they're(Dems) are doing to the Maine lobster industry: https://www.youtube.com/c/TheMaineReset
The dems wiped out the U.S. tuna industry in San Diego, over 70 seiners fly different flags now due to the politics of dolphins . It didn't stop them from fishing, just put a whole bunch of people out of work in The U.S.A. Plus all the canneries to boot.
The entire federal government has changed, recently exposed as a criminal organization. Someone tell me the difference between the FBI in recent years and the KGB or the Gestapo. The politicians are just there to steal as much of our money as they can. Why don't people get that? There is no political 'solution'.
You nailed it, Kid. Trump's signature accomplishment was exposing just how CORRUPT our governments are. While VDH also nails it, he forgets to follow the money and state that the damn 'pubs will steal just as much as the 'rats. Don't think so? Go back and review what happened with Newt and his Contract With America in the first mid-term period of Clinton's reign. Any "relief" will be short lived because you state the truth: there is no political solution.
"Our two parties have both changed, and that explains why one will win, and one lose in the midterm elections."
I like VDH, but come on. The real opening should be this:
Our two parties both know that policies have nothing to do with winning. One side will lie, cheat, and steal as needed to win, the other side will blindly pretend not to notice. That's why one side will win and the other side will lose.
In any democracy anywhere in the world, socialist parties were only very briefly representative of ordinary working people. Once their ideas had been tried and actually made life worse instead of better as they were expecting, true champions of the poor would have ditched socialism forthwith. An additional problem is that a party that claims to represent the poor has to keep a significant proportion of people poor in order to get elected. Or maybe not such a problem since socialism always does exactly that.
There's one exception to that. Back after WWII, when Sweden was pretty rich because they had the largest industrial establishment in Europe that hadn't been bombed to pieces, they tried socialism. When everyone became a little poorer, especially the middle class and poor, they voted out socialism.
And ever since then, leftists have been pointing to Sweden as the example of how "socialism works". It only "worked" because they started rich and dumped it before it made them too poor. And I think they could only vote it out because their population was notably lacking in "diversity"...
My Dad, a staunch Democrat who wouldn't piss on Republican if he/she was on fire, used to say that Demonrats were "for the working man". After growing up and seeing that it wasn't true, I asked him one time "what the Demonrats had done for the working man lately". He was speechless.\
Dad was also a bit of a racist, well more than bit. After Obama won in 2008, we were having a discussion about that win. He was of course extolling the virtues of the Demonrats. I looked at him and said "you're a hypocrite. If Obama showed up at your door, you wouldn't allow him into your home, but you vote for him because he's got a D after him name." Silence, as that sunk in.

Oh glory be, the sonbis smarter than daddy.
DeleteWhere we've heard that before?
Whenever someone says the Dems are for the working man, I remind them Harry Truman's been dead for a long time.
DeleteIt’s the left and right wing of the same vulture
ReplyDelete"For the working man" is one of the big lies, right up there with "The check is in the mail" and "I'm from the Gov't and I'm here to help"
ReplyDeleteOnly the America first Republicans are for the working class.
ReplyDeleteYeah.....the republicans totally have your back. Mich McConnell cares about you and me.
ReplyDeleteI know.... anything sounds silly when I say it like that.
