Family discovers bodies of 3 veterans buried in loved one’s tomb

LEBANON, Tenn. (WKRN) — A World War II veteran’s family has learned the remains of not one, but three marines had been mistakenly buried in their loved one’s tomb more than seven decades ago.

In July of 2021, World War II Captain Glenn Walker’s correct remains were brought home and buried in Lebanon after a mix up discovered by the DPAA.

  1. Absolutely total B/S. These men gave their all and were buried before I was even born, so why did this story bring tears to my eyes?

  2. “They told us there were parts of not just one marine in there, but there was parts of possibly three different marines through DNA testing,” Martin said.

This didn’t come as a complete surprise to Walker’s family.

“I knew that there was so much chaos when those men were re-buried that it was certainly a possibility for the comingling of bones,” Martin admitted.

Considering the chaos that occurred, it is understandable that 'parts' of three Marines ended up in the same grave. The way this family handled it was classy.

  3. Will the remains of the other veterans be re-identified and properly re-interred? Is it likely that three more names will come off of the list of the missing?

  4. I get it's a bad deal but I don't know that being buried with my buds would be such a bad thing. Especially under the circumstances. All of us blown up together on the field of battle.
