Cal died in Orland, CA in 2013 at 92 years old. He owned a 24,000 acre ranch there.
From his wiki page: "He saw combat as a B-17 Flying Fortress pilot with the 390th Bomb Group, flying 29 missions over Germany. He was discharged after the war as a captain. Worthington was awarded the Air Medal five times, and received the Distinguished Flying Cross, which was presented to him by General Jimmy Doolittle."
I spent my last 13 months in the army doing infantry stuff and getting frostbite at Fort Wainwright in Alaska. Broke as hell, too, because everything was damn expensive. One of my few fond memories of the experience was watching a rutting bull moose have his way with a VW bug at the main gate to Eielson Air Force Base just down the road. From the looks of things, the moose was enjoying the process a lot more than the driver of the bug was.
My thoughts exactly. When the tail starts flapping around, keep holding a cat at your peril. Having said that, this cat doesn't seem super pissed, but something set the poor guy off.
#8 The woman knows the moose is dangerous, and acted accordingly.
ReplyDeleteReminded me of ordering the book on Amazon: "Antlers in the Treetops or Who Goosed the Moose"
Delete#1 - Quite the makeup job
ReplyDelete#9 - Close enough to operate the trackhoe to set off the land mine is too close!
Back off around a hundred yards and shoot it might be a better idea.
Delete#1 Cal Worthington's dog "Spot."
DeleteI haven't thought bout Cal Worthington or his dog Spot in years.

ReplyDeleteA cat usually gives a warning or three, but when really pissed will draw blood. Learn to read cat. And dog.
ReplyDeleteAnd NEVER hold a cat near your face, unless you want to lose an eye.
