Memphis Mayor Laments ‘Revolving Door’ of Crime

In his weekly update, Memphis’ mayor lamented the city’s “revolving door” of crime, and said he supports new tough-on-crime legislature recently enacted by the Tennessee legislature.

“Last week, I told you about a man who, while driving a car, struck a Memphis police officer on foot, causing him to roll over the hood and be thrown to the ground. He led officers on a high-speed vehicle pursuit and crashed into a citizen’s car. He fled on foot. Officers apprehended him and found him in possession of a handgun. He was given a $15,000 bond,” said Mayor Jim Strickland. “Guess what has happened? He has posted his bond, was released, and is out and about in the Memphis community.”

  1. Hey, at least you still have to post a bond in Memphis.

  2. I bet there's lots of former North East Progs dwelling in Memphis who will come out and demand high speed chases by the police be stopped because it endangers the public.

    2. Maybe in the distant future cops will have the ability to instantly communicate over various distances, and have cameras throughout the city & on the highways. At that point they could maybe anticipate where the perp is going and trap him, without the highspeed pursuit & all of the collateral damage.
Why did the rabbit run? Because the dog chased it. Why did the dog chase the rabbit? Because the rabbit ran.
But what does a North East Conservative know?

  3. If only there was some way to keep criminals off the streets. Perhaps Shitshow Joe could create a task force or appoint a czar to investigate. Heals Up Harris solved the border crisis, so she should have time to tackle this conundrum. I'm certain the right social program, midnight basketball or paying criminals to stop committing crimes would work. A trillion or so dollars could be easily allocated for this. On the other hand, perhaps criminals could just be kept in fucking prison.

  6. mebbe the community could remove Mr Bonded on their own?
Except he probably is being shadowed by the bondsman (sorry, bondsperson) protecting their investment. Do they get their money back if they deliver the corpse (if found)?
