Non-fatal shootings see big uptick in Baltimore

BALTIMORE (WBFF) -- More than halfway through 2021, and Baltimore continues to outpace last year when it comes to the growing gun violence in the city.

So far, more than 355 people have been shot, injured and survived in what police label "non-fatal" shootings. Statistics show that's a more than 11% increase in non-fatal shootings from this same time last year.

The man who was shot ended up surviving, something police credit to new specialized training city officers receive. Something doctors at Shock Trauma spoke to Operation Crime & Justice about back in March.

Yeah..... no. I'm more inclined to believe the reason more people are surviving is because shooters are using the old 'spray and pray' technique using the Glock switches that are so popular with colored folks instead of aimed shots.

  1. I wonder what firearms they are using. They're obviously not using 9mm's because everyone knows they blow the lungs out of the target and they couldn't be using "high-caliber, military-grade fully-semiautomatic assault rifles with 8 bullets per round" because they blow entire body parts off which would cause fatal hemorrhaging. Any ideas?

  2. Approximately 80% of people shot with handguns survive.
Doesn’t matter who does the shooting or what caliber it is.
That stat hasn’t changed much in decades.

  3. Fact is, medicine has gotten better at saving folks as well, Gunshot wounds are not the killers they once were. If a patient makes it to the ER in a larger hospital still alive there is a very good chance they will stay alive. The stats have changed greatly in the past few years.

  7. In recent past, lockdowns and closed businesses limited reasons for people to be out and about. Compare the rate to 2018 or 2019 and see what you get...
