Potential railroad strike pushed back until early December

OMAHA, Neb. - The possibility of an economically devastating railroad strike has been pushed back into early December to allow time for engineers and conductors to vote on their agreements with the freight railroads and give more opportunity for the industry to renegotiate with two unions that rejected their deals last month.

  3. "The economic stakes of this contract dispute are so high that Congress is expected to step in and block a strike if the two sides can't agree. Hundreds of business groups have urged lawmakers and Biden to be ready to intervene if necessary."

Whatcha gonna do? Make 'em operate the trains at gunpoint?
Oops, sorry took that curve too fast /2 mile long train derailment/

    1. I'm an engineer for one of the class 1 carriers, it's not about the money. It's about the schedules and the lousy attendance policies, it's definitely about quality of life. Most of us just want time off for medical appointments and things like that without having to use up our precious points. I've been with this company over 27 years, it's definitely gone down hill. Congress is not going to let us strike, the ones that have been around awhile know that. All we are asking for are decent wages and a couple of quality of life issues.

  4. All other issues aside, the quality of life issue won't go away nor, IMO, should not go away.

    1. They can't even get people to apply for a railroad job. Those that do quit within months. If nothing else, that should be a big clue that what they are offering isn't all that....
