  2. I’ve heard stories of horses or donkeys falling into an old sistern. Easiest way to get them out is to have a few tons is sand delivered. While waiting on the sand, go to the liquor store and get a keg or several cases of beer. Call friends and neighbors for free beer. When all has arrived, start shoveling sand, a shovel full at a time. Horse walks out when he gets to the top. Sistern is now filled in so no one else falls in. Drink the rest of the beer.
