Sorry 'bout that

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office said Austin Walsh was shot and killed early Saturday by his roommate, fellow deputy Andrew Lawson, in their Palm Bay home.

In an update posted to Facebook, Sheriff Wayne Ivey said Walsh and his roommate were taking a break from playing online video games with friends when Lawson pointed a gun at him and pulled the trigger.

  1. The offending deputy needs to be in jail, just for being such a monumental dumb ass.

  2. I read the article yesterday and was torn. Sounds like the two were close and that's a shame. But come on. Playing with a gun (even if you think it's unloaded) violates all things common sense with gun car. Just ask old Alex Baldwin. I wasn't brought up around guns (my dad had some sort of fear because his younger sister committed suicide with one in her teens) so my exposure began as an adult in my thirties. The first thing the instructor drilled into me, and I drill into anyone that's on my land shooting, is treat them all as loaded, regardless. Amazing that police candidates can't understand or practice this philosophy.

  3. Well, officer, we were just horsing around with a gun, and . . .

Nothing like a little irresponsible gun ownership to help the Dems in their crusade to ban guns.

  4. And how many of the ruled for safe gun handling were violated here?

  5. Our gun club shoots at the local public safety training facility. When cops come out to play I move to a different area. Their gun handling is consistently scary bad.

  8. I raised my kids to understand (and they did) that guns are tools, adult tools, and just as dangerous the hammer in the workshop or the pan Mom uses on the stove; you don't play with them, you learn to use them properly; it's a part of growing up. These weren't LEOs: these were irresponsible, poorly raised/taught children.

  10. I lost two good friends in high school one Thanksgiving. One of the boys was goofing around with his shotgun in his bedroom and pointed it at my other friend as a joke, not knowing the 12 gauge was loaded, and pull the trigger. It blew off 1/2 of his face, killing him instantly. I heard about it when our school bus driver came to the door along with another classmate to notify me and collect money for flowers. The boy who pulled the trigger was fucked up forever but no charges were filed. People need to always assume a gun is loaded and deadly.

  11. Walsh and was “fully distraught and devastated” when Palm Bay officers arrived, Ivey said.

If he thinks this is bad, wait until his first prison shower.
