Not so impossible with me.
The last SA revolver I'd ever sell would be my Blackhawk in 41 magnum. I've packed that sucker all over the Sierras and it's been a faithful companion for going on 40 years.
I can load it up with either lightweight 170 grain bullets, standard weight 210s, or heavyweight 300 grain bullets. It shoots straight and has never surprised me with a malfunction or misfire in all the years I've owned it.
I've got a couple more Blackhawks in 45 Colt and 357 that I could sell without a second thought, but I'll never get rid of my 41.
Same same. .41 Rugerrrrrrrrrrr Blackhawk
ReplyDeleteMy .30 carbine Blackhawk is a helluva gun. Accurate, loud, and makes huge fireballs.
ReplyDeleteFor me it's my stainless flat top 44 special
ReplyDeleteI was going to say the same thing Darrell. The Blackhawk in .30 Carbine is a laser pointer, most accurate handgun I've seen.
ReplyDeleteMe neither.
ReplyDeleteMine is an unmodified 1970 model, and it's the sweetest large caliber you can shoot.
Love my converted .41 Mag Blackhawk. .41 Mag is the best caliber ever invented.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I love more is my unconverted .45 Colt Blackhawk with it's four buttery smooth clicks and buttery smooth trigger. Yum.
The only Blackhawk I have with a sweeter trigger is my Bisley Flattop .44 Special with it's Wolff 17 pound hammer spring and 2 pound trigger pull. Oooh.
I better go before I orgasm.
Probably my old model in 357 with grips by Esmerelda. 6 inch barrel shoots exceptionally well and really tames the magnums.
ReplyDeleteIs yours a 4 and 5/8ths? I had one and was surprised how well it shot. I have a couple of Smiths. I’m not sure I like them better.

Mine? It's got a 6 1/2 barrel on it.
DeleteI had both barrel lengths, 4 5/8" and 6 1/2" .41 Magnum Blackhawks. When I later purchased a S&W 29 6" .44 Magnum, I figured I had the hunting covered and stupidly sold the longer .41. It never failed me and I still have the shorter easier packing .41 Blackhawk so I guess I'm partially stupid (wife will argue over that definition). I have a couple of other Blackhawks too. Which one - hmmm. The convertible .45 ACP / .45LC 4 5/8" sounds awfully tempting. Magnum loads aren't as necessary as I'm nearly 60 years old now, my handgun hunts likely behind me.
DeleteBut nothing bad about a .41 Magnum, total agreement here.
I owned a 629 before I got my 41, but I have to tell you, I prefer the 41 SA by a long shot.
DeleteMy last would be my Ruger Old Army.
ReplyDeleteEarlier this year I traded my S&W 25 for a 45 colt Blackhawk with 4 and 5/8 barrel. I got the better deal.
ReplyDeleteI like the 44 Super Redhawk. Never owned a Blackhawk. I have no need for a single action. If a boar or bear is changing I don't want to take the time to cock a hammer.
ReplyDeleteMy choice is easy, I only have one single action revolver. Third generation 5 and a half inch Colt in .45 Colt. Got a 1892 takedown Winchester to go along with it. While I have shot the shit shit out of both of them, they don’t have the same appeal they once had. Getting too afraid to fuck them up. Been thinking about mounting them above the fireplace. Never thought I’d say something like that. Eod1sg Ret
ReplyDeletei just have one, a blackhawk in .30 carbine, with a 4 digit serial. its bang/dead accurate and wakes up the hood.
ReplyDeleteMine would be the 44 Magnum Sauer & Sohn Chief Marshall that belonged to my grandfather. The only other single action I have is a 22LR Tanfoglio that I need to trade in at a police buy back. I inherited it and it is a piece of junk.
ReplyDeleteBeen packing and handloading the .41 Rem since 1987. It's THAT good of a cartridge.
