OAKLAND -- A mass shooting at a gas station in Oakland Monday evening killed at least one person and injured at least seven others, the second mass shooting in the Bay Area Monday and the third in California in three days.

Saturday night’s mass shooting in Monterey Park has revived the same discussions surrounding national gun safety laws.

California already has one of the strictest gun laws in the nation. In part, the Golden State requires residents to pass background checks before purchasing firearms and bans military-style assault weapons.
